Lost in Berlin

General information

Selects #15

12 Feb–14 May 26

The fall of the Wall in 1989 propelled Berlin from a city that was literally hemmed in on all sides to a nexus of history and a new geopolitical force. These nine films chart Berlin’s journey from a city marked by decline and stagnation to a vibrant, young metropolis on the cusp of the new millennium. Empty urban spaces were transformed into open spaces for art and culture. With its focus on the former frontline city of Berlin, the 15th edition of “Selects” complements this year’s Berlinale Retrospective on 1990s Berlin life, “Lost in the 90s”.
