Festivals

The Kinemathek presents the historical sections of the Berlin International Film Festival: Berlinale Classics and the Retrospective. Our film-heritage festival, Film Restored, takes place every year in the autumn.

Since its inception in 1977, the Retrospective has highlighted selected periods as well as aesthetic and technical developments in film across a variety of genres. It is a unique forum in which to explore cinematic history.
