Retrospective

The Retrospective of the Berlinale is a highlight for all cinephiles. Curated by the Deutsche Kinemathek, this section of the Berlinale brings unique motion pictures from worldwide film history back to the big screen. The programme includes classic films and rediscoveries presented in the form of analogue copies or digital format. Since its inception in 1977, the Retrospective has highlighted selected periods as well as aesthetic and technical developments in film across a variety of genres. It is a unique forum in which to explore cinematic history.

Berlinale Classics

Berlinale Classics has been presenting digitally restored classics in outstanding image and sound quality since 2013. The Kinemathek’s selection of film restorations and reconstructions are premiered in this section of the Berlinale. Films from various epochs and countries are introduced by high-profile guests or restorers, providing the audience with a unique experience.

Film Restored

The Retrospective of the Berlinale is a highlight for all cinephiles.
