John (Conrad Jennings), an African-American GI in West Berlin, completes his military service and stays on in the city. His attempt to build a new life for herself with a woman and her child fails. Thus begins an odyssey through a society that denies him a place. Confronted with everyday racism, prejudices and sexual importunities, he slowly loses his grip on life. With cameos by Ingrid Caven, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Günther Kaufmann and Tally Brown, among others.
