Roger Willemsen

7.10.22 – 27.3.23

General information

“Willemsen posed questions that were friendly, thoughtful, cunning, smart, funny, and full of surprising little coups. He was well informed. And, above all, he always responded differently, depending on who was sitting across from him.” The jury of the Grimme-Preis made this statement in 1993 when they presented Roger Willemsen with the prestigious television award in gold. The talk show format ‘0137’ had launched the career of the television newcomer at the start of the 1990s. In the hopes of garnering the interest of potential new subscribers for the television station, the daily talk show premiered its broadcasts unscrambled on the pay TV channel. Production ceased in 1994. Afterwards, the taped recordings disappeared for a longer period into the archives of the broadcaster (now Sky). In collaboration with Markus Peichl, former producer of ‘0137’, the Deutsche Kinemathek was able to digitalize an extensive selection of broadcasts for its Television Collection and is now making them available again to the public.
