FIAF Education & Outreach Autumn Lab
What is the FIAF Autumn Lab?
The annual FIAF Education & Outreach Autumn Lab creates a platform to discuss questions and perspectives relating to education, training, and outreach for film heritage today, as well as with a view to the future. We will be discussing concepts and approaches to film education, presenting exemplary services in the fields of education and training, and putting examples of good practice to the test.
Within the FIAF network, we would also like to work on industry-specific, topic-specific, and social challenges to develop solutions and initiate joint projects. In this way, we can jointly reflect and strengthen educational work in the film heritage field using many different approaches that range from aesthetic, historical, and media-critical dimensions to creative and practical methods. The Autumn Lab offers film archives, cinematheques, film museums, and an enthusiastic professional audience a regular platform for dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and networking.
The FIAF Autumn Lab is conceived as a collaborative service to enable member institutions and other selected stakeholders to actively shape future priorities, methods, and forms of work.

Costs
The FIAF Autumn Lab 2025 is designed as a kick-off event and opening meeting, and is therefore free of charge. Travel expenses and accommodation must be covered by participants. Some catering (drinks and snacks) is offered on the days of the event.
Eligibility
The Autumn Lab aims to offer FIAF members the chance to connect and exchange ideas on a long-term, sustainable basis. In addition, independent stakeholders in film education and outreach are an important part of the lab.
Participation requires prior film education experience as well as involvement in specialist meetings and working groups. This experience will be collected in advance and incorporated into the selection process.
In order to ensure the optimal consolidation of existing FIAF structures, the majority of places are reserved for education directors and representatives of FIAF member institutions.
Application
Registration will be possible on the FIAF website from 20 August 2025. Due to the limited number of participants, places are allocated in a two-stage process.
The selected participants are expected to be informed from mid-September onwards.
Please note: The registration deadline was 7 September 2025.
