‘La mujer murciélago’ (The Batwoman) is a deliriously fun dive into 1960s Mexican pulp, where lucha libre (Mexican-style wrestling), mad science and superhero antics collide. Set in sun-soaked Acapulco, Maura Monti stars as Batwoman: she is a wrestler, spy, coral diver, and all-round icon in a cape, hood, and bikini. She takes on a dangerous scientist, who abducts luchadores (wrestlers) for experiments to create fish people. Packed with action, camp, and charm, this is peak Batlady: fearless, resourceful, and stylishly smashing the patriarchy one roundhouse kick at a time.
