The exhibition tells the stories of filmmakers, activists, and cultural institutions that brought queer stories to the screen and made them visible.
In this performative drag tour, Cali Harburg invites you to experience the exhibition from a queer perspective—thinking out loud, using your body and your presence. Personal perspectives intertwine with film history, leading from early queer film cultures through New Queer Cinema to the present day.
The focus is on the films, the stories behind their creation, and the people who made them possible.

Inventing Queer Cinema
Queeres Kino erzählt von den Geschichten, Erfahrungen und Lebensrealitäten queerer Menschen – meist abseits normativer Erwartungen und gesellschaftlicher Ordnungen. Dabei hinterfragt es oft auch filmische Konventionen und entwickelt eigene, widerständige Formsprachen. Im Zentrum der Ausstellung stehen Filme und Filmarbeitende, die seit den 1970er-Jahren das queere Kino in Deutschland geprägt und immer wieder neu erfunden haben. Ergänzend beleuchtet die Schau die besondere Bedeutung Berlins als Ort queerer Film- und Subkultur.
