For 34 years, life in the television series Lindenstraße has been playing to the beat of German reality: every week, people have loved, lived and married. More than 50 deaths have been reported since broadcasting began in 1985 and 21 children were born. Several marriages were entered into and dissolved, governments elected and voted out of office. From AIDS to zeal, current social issues were regularly put up for discussion here in front of an audience of millions.
