Windows on Monday

‘Montag kommen die Fenster’, GER 2006, directed by Ulrich Köhler, 92 min, with English subtitles, rating: 12

A new town, a new house. This might be a happy moment in the life of a small family. Nina, a doctor, has taken a few days off, while househusband Frieder is laying tiles and their daughter Charlotte is playing in her new bedroom. But Nina feels alienated in these half-empty rooms and takes off without telling her family. She visits her brother at their parents’ holiday home, wanders aimlessly through a surreal mountain landscape, and ends up with an aging tennis star in a hotel for sports enthusiasts. The dream of owning a home is presented as an existential nightmare.

Featuring: Isabelle Menke, Hans-Jochen Wagner, Amber Bongard, Trystan Pütter u. a.
