Ping-Pong

‘Pingpong’, GER 2005, directed by Matthias Luthardt, 87 min, with English subtitles, rating: 12

Sixteen-year-old Paul shows up unannounced at his uncle’s family house. Following his father’s suicide, he is looking for refuge. However, nowhere feels safe to him in the home of this supposedly perfect bourgeois family. His presence even causes the elegant façade to crumble. ‘Ping-Pong’, an understated, stylish drama that ends tragically and features table tennis, a piano, and a swimming pool, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2005 in the Semaine de la Critique series and won three awards.

Featuring: Sebastian Urzendowsky, Marion Mitterhammer, Clemens Berg, Falk Rockstroh
