The film follows Melek in her everyday life, following the moments of her arrival in Berlin in 1970 as well as preparing for her departure. Jeanine Meerapfel’s film gives a face and a voice to the many women who came to Germany with high hopes, found their feet despite adversity, and yet were denied access to society.
