The double DVD presents two films by Gerhard Lamprecht, which cinematically trace Heinrich Zille’s view of the Berliner Milljöh (milieu). In Die Verrufenen the engineer Robert Kramer, released from prison, can’t find a foothold on his journey back into a middle-class world. He wants to put an end to his life, but is held back by Emma, a streetwalker. In Die Unehelichen three worker’s children suffer under their violent foster parents until a dramatic incident changes their lives.
