Vier Filme mit Asta Nielsen

The double DVD presents four films with Asta Nielsen that showcase the versatility of this renowned silent film star of the 1910s: as a committed women’s rights activist and successful stock exchange trader in the dramas Die Suffragette (D 1913, directed by Urban Gad) and Die Börsenkönigin (D 1916, directed by Edmund Edel); as well as portraying a schoolgirl who wears men’s clothing and an Eskimo in the comedies Das Liebes-ABC (D 1916, directed by Magnus Stifter) and Das Eskimobaby (D 1916, directed by Heinz Schall).
The films Das Liebes-ABC and Die Suffragette have been digitally reconstructed.

The DVD was honored as the “Best Rediscovery of a Forgotten Film in 2012-13” (Miglior riscoperta di un film dimenticato) at the “Il Cinema Ritrovato” film festival (Bologna).
