Inventing Queer Cinema

Queer cinema tells the stories, experiences and lived realities of queer people – for the most part beyond normative expectations and societal structures. In doing so, it often challenges cinematic conventions and develops its own visual languages of resistance. At the heart of this exhibition are the films and filmmakers who have shaped and consistently reinvented queer cinema in Germany since the 1970s. In addition, the exhibition highlights the special significance of Berlin as a hub for queer film and subculture.
