‘Gölge’, GER 1980, directed by Sema Poyraz, Sofoklis Adamidis

Guest: Sema Poyraz (director)

As part of the monthly ‘KineKiez’ series, four Berlin cinemas take turns selecting films from the Deutsche Kinemathek’s archive. In March, the Kinemathek will be hosted by Sinema Transtopia in Wedding.

‘Gölge’ tells the story of a young woman caught between two worlds. Raised in Berlin-Kreuzberg, the daughter of Turkish immigrants struggles with her family’s strict moral values and the freedoms of German society. Her awakening clashes with the confines of their apartment—and her father’s expectations. Inspired by true events and personal experiences, Sema Poyraz created this graduation film at the DFFB.
