Accessibility

The Museum für Film und Fernsehen should be accessible to everyone. Here, we provide information on the current status of accessibility.

Current notification

The museum is currently closed!

We have moved. The museum at Potsdamer Platz is permanently closed. Unfortunately, you cannot yet visit us at our new location, the E-Werk. As soon as we reopen, you will find all the information on accessibility on this page as usual. Here you can find out everything about our move.

Accessibility

General information

Due to our change of premises, the Kinemathek museum is closed for the time being. During the Berlin International Film Festival, it will temporarily open for film screenings and events. However, we would like to point out that not all areas of the building are fully accessible due to structural conditions and, in particular, because the building is under a preservation order. Should you need specific information or assistance, we will be happy to help. Please contact the staff member responsible in advance by info [at] deutsche-kinemathek.de (email) to discuss your needs.

Yes. All exhibits may be reached via elevator and there is enough space to navigate the exhibits with a wheelchair. The barrier-free entrance is in the rear of the film museum, on the Sony Center side.

Where can I get support on the day of my visit?

Once you have arrived at the museum, one of our visitor care specialists will be glad to assist you further. Simply contact the staff at the museum ticket desk or at the information counter in the museum’s entrance area.

Where can I find handicapped toilets?

Handicapped toilets can be found on both the 2nd basement floor of the museum and on the 2nd floor above ground level (labeled as 3rd floor in German) within the exhibit. Ask one of our visitor care specialists if you have any questions.

May I bring animals into the museum?

Service animals such as seeing eye dogs are allowed in the museum. Unfortunately we cannot allow any other animals.

Are there any programs oriented specifically to barrier-free or inclusive visitors?

We offer a selection of programs oriented specifically to barrier-free or inclusive visitors such as the visually and hearing-impaired and persons with special needs. These can be booked individually or visited as part of public events.
